resident evil2: original and remake

resident evil is a landmark game that inspired a plethora of other games in the genre back in the early days of the PlayStation 1, selling millions of units worldwide and receiving critical acclaim across the board, I did a review of it last week after playing it for the first time and I must say I think it’s really strong, 26 years later the game still manages to keep you invested in it s two campaigns, the powerful level design exploration and the eerie atmosphere, it’s a fantastic game all the time. As I said last week, considering the sheer number of ports and re-releases of resident evil in the last few years, it’s a fantastic game and an all time gaming classic, like I said. resident evil got a ton of ports and re-releases in just a few years, and it was clear that Capcom wasn’t going to let such a hit game go to waste.resident evil2: original and remake

1998 saw the world of resident evil2, a game that was set to be a hit from the start, but in reality, the game didn’t go well behind the scenes of development. Shortly after resident evil1 was released, Shinji Mikami, the director of the first game, took on the role of producer for R2, as the game would be directed by Hidetoki Kamiya. Hidetoki Kamiya is the person I have to mention as being responsible for my favorite game series, Ghostbusters, but that’s no hero, and now when I say things aren’t going well, I’m not saying the game is bad.

It’s not that the game was bad, it’s just that it didn’t set the world on fire The game was supposed to be about a cop named LION KENNEDY and a college girl named ELZO WALKER dealing with Raccoon City being infected by zombies, which isn’t too different from the final game, but like I said, it didn’t really come together in a particularly exciting way. in 1997, when development was 60-80% complete, it was announced that the game would be delayed until 1998 as the team would overhaul the game design in hopes of meeting the expected quality standards, which is when Capcom first released the director’s cut of RESIDENT EVIL 1 as a way to prop people up. 5, you can also play it because fans took the time to build it up to be playable, and as far as I can tell, people seem to agree that R1.

5 was a bit boring, which is why the team scrapped it and started over, thanks to their ability to look at their work, realize they weren’t happy with it and start over, because R2 as we know it today is an iconic game, just like its predecessors, for the series introducing characters and ideas that are just as recognizable as the characters from the first game, but to close the lid on R1.5. Maybe someday I’ll give it a chance to comment, but I decided not to in this article because I believe we’ve had a lot of discussion about 1998’s RESIDENT EVIL 2.

First of all, of the games in the resident evil series that I have yet to play, the original R2 is the one I want to play the most, and that’s because it’s the original version of resident evil2 from 2019, and the remake of R2 is without a doubt one of my favorite games of all time. One of my favorite games, I’ve played it several times and it ranks as the best on every difficulty, it’s just a superb game so I’m really curious how the original will compare, when I did a review on the remake last year I wasn’t sure I wanted to play the original to compare them. I wasn’t sure I wanted to play the originals to compare them, but I decided to just review the remake and share why I liked it so much, and then I did a full review to see how I felt about the old game, so here we are, and if you want my full thoughts on the remake you can check out the review I did last year, which will focus on my thoughts on the original, but I’ll be comparing it to the remake for a lot of comparisons and see how it stacks up.

resident evil2’s new director, Hideki Kamiya, thought it would be better to use more Hollywood action inspiration for this game than the slow-paced horror atmosphere of the first game, and that’s exactly what they did with resident evil2 on PS1, which is so big that it has two discs, one for each main character. LION’S KENNEDY campaign on the first day of work with the Raccoon City Police Department, and another focusing on CLAIRE REDFIELD, the sister of CHRIS REDFIELD from the first game, who comes to Raccoon City in search of CHRIS, whose whereabouts are currently unknown. These two campaigns go in very different directions, but I can save that for when we discuss the plot.
