So one aspect of article gaming that’s been growing in popularity recently is of course VR gaming, and I think that’s due to the fact that there are so many different VR headsets, you have things like Playstation VR, HTC Vive, Oculus Quest, there’s a whole bunch of different options, and while I don’t think article gaming is going to become entirely VR, I think there’s always going to be you know of a controller and a TV or monitor or something like that as an option to explore the article game genre. I recently bought this Oculus Quest VR2, I think it’s called Oculus Quest 2, yeah Facebook oh they’re spying on me, guess what, everything is spying on you, your phone is spying on you, it’s like get it, but I bought this for one reason and that was resident evil4 VR. i’ve played it on a million different consoles and it’s a great game but I thought this game would be a really fun experience in vr so I ended up going with this game and I ended up going with resident evil4 vr and wow, like holy shit this was one of the most fun experiences I’m still playing this game so this isn’t really a review but it’s certainly one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in a post One of the most fun experiences in gaming, so I want to be very casual about this game. I’m just going to use some clips of me playing this game and stick to the end of the article, I’m going to do a live look at it, you know I played this game standing up and you know my experience so you might want to stick with it, but yeah, we just want to talk about resident evil4 VR in Oculus Quest 2 today because I was impressed with this game , it’s not perfect and has some flaws this game isn’t perfect and has some flaws but overall this game definitely blew me away so let me go over this game, obviously this is the same resident evil4 you’ve been playing but with some differences in terms of puzzles etc because there are actually some puzzles that take into account the oculus quest 2 situations done with the ability to take advantage of this interactive vr world or whatever, but I don’t know much about vr games, I don’t play them very well.
I don’t know much about vr games, I haven’t really experienced them so that’s something I’m really looking forward to, there’s a lot of different ways to play now, you can play the game at the end of the article, I usually play it standing up, you know, to get the full experience, you’ll see most of the gameplay is I choose to sit down, there’s a lot of different options, you can do things like teleport. If you have motion sickness I can move around the whole world except when I’m going downstairs, for some reason that throws me off completely and makes me feel sick and like want to curl up in a ball and cry out, but for the most part I was able to handle all the VR stuff and you can adjust it to your liking, but it’s really cool how immersive this game is because even if you take take for granted little things because you know you’ve got two hands and you’re like LION KENNEDY to take out LAS PLAGAS, which is so crazy to me, so the combat is where the game really shines because you can do so many cool things with it, basically you can do things like quickly draw a pistol or quickly draw a knife and your knife of course is a pair of your knives are one to one So kind of like our sport plus, you can hack around when people are in front of you your gun, like you load it with ammo and it comes back, that sort of thing, it’s so cool the shotgun as well, you can put individual shells in, very immersive, it’s an experience I’ve never felt before resident evil4 was always a fun game for me when it first When it appeared on the Gamecube I didn’t finish it because I didn’t like resident evil’s more action orientated style and I missed out on the survival horror stuff so I didn’t finish the game until I picked it up on the Wii because I like the motion controls and the Wii I like the motion controls and the wii version of this game but it’s like the wii version when your little pdf buzzer goes off and Hannigan is calling you, you can interact with it like touching it and when you’re in that moment, it’s hard to describe the vr stuff because I think you really have to interact with it in that moment. You have to experience it for yourself because you might look at this and you think it looks like a first person resident evil 4 model, it doesn’t look that spectacular, the graphics aren’t really an improvement over any other version of the game that we’ve seen, they look clean but it’s like it’s nothing new and doesn’t really bring anything unique to the table. But once you get into the game, once you actually start playing it, it’s crazy because there’s a fear, there’s a panic that I don’t think you can experience on a console because when you’re on a console you know you’re just button mashing, you’re button mashing, you’re sitting on the couch, you’re relaxing, you’re watching on the TV.
But when you’re in this headset you’re in a world where you don’t have any breaks or anything like that and you run out of ammunition and you just have to sit there and take the clip out of your belt and put it in your gun and get back into action and I think you know it’s a bit clunkier than when you’re playing on a console but I think the clunkiness is because you have to manually The action, of course there are different modes to choose from, there’s an easy mode, I’m not quite sure what the difference is between easy and normal, I’ve been playing the game in normal mode because I’m familiar with it. I’ve been playing the game in normal mode because I know the game well, but the immersion when you’re walking around is absolutely insane, especially when you can do it in the game’s full motion setting, and yes, there’s some censored content in the game, whether it’s based on censorship or the fact that they just cut some of the content out of the game to make it more I really don’t care, like I said, I’ve played this game a million times, I think everyone has played this game, it’s just a new way to play an old game, but it’s a more unique way to play, it’s an experience and if you’re a resident evil fan I really think you have to play this, whether you have or not. Is it worth buying Oculus Quest 2, that’s why I bought it now, of course there are more games, like I said I’m a virgin to this VR world but I’m just impressed with this game, you know I also picked up a Darth Vader game that I’ve been playing when he hits the lightsaber and stuff, it’s kind of cool. I think it would be great if more companies were willing to make their traditional games for VR headsets and it doesn’t have to be brand new games, it can be old games because with a VR headset there’s a whole new experience and you know it comes at a price.
I paid $40 for resident evil 4 in 2022 and it was a hit for me, but you have to remember it’s a game, it’s not like they just ported the game and gave you some immersive tactics, this game is obviously made with resident evil 4 and sticks to that formula, but they’ve added some things to the interactive part that really make it feel like a whole new experience. It’s a game I’ve played many times but I don’t think I’ve ever had the same fun in a game that maybe in the Wii version, maybe the Wii version was just as fun because of the motion controls, but you know just loading up your simple things like loading up your gun and running away from enemies, you know pushing through barricades and stuff like that. But you know, just loading your gun, running away from enemies, pushing through barricades and stuff like that, getting in and out of windows, crossing the land of resident evil 4, it becomes a whole new experience, like you know what’s going to happen, you know what’s going to happen in the game, but it feels fresh because you’re in this hell, you’re in this area, this area is you, these people are trying to kill you, they’re in this area. They’re right in front of you and you have to cut them with a knife and then pull out your Glock and blow their heads off, like Ann Anderson did when she robbed his car, it’s crazy, I know this article has said a lot, I really just want to talk about the game and show you some gameplay footage like I said, at the end of the article I’m going to have an unedited clip of me Just playing this game and standing around talking about this game so you can see you know what to expect from this game but I I I I’m very happy with this game like I feel like buying this Oculus Quest 2 was totally the right thing to do.
Now I almost want to explore it a little bit more, I almost want to see what other games give me that feeling because you know that level of immersion is just insane, it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before in an article game, you know vr definitely has a long way to go. I remember the first time I played vr was at the big e show in Massachusetts probably 93 94 and it was this weird thing where you stood in it and there was a ring around it so you wouldn’t go off the edge and I was playing this game at home and ducking out of the way when you knew people were throwing things at me and it was crazy like I said I know I’ve been babbling and I know I’m telling the truth , but this game brings me joy, it brings me freshness, it brings me newness, I haven’t felt article games since I think Nintendo’s switch came out, you know that hybrid concept.
